Following Climb Report received from Jamie

Yesterday we reached the summit of Cayambe Volcan, northeast of Quito. At 5790m, Cayambe is the third highest mountain in Ecuador and the highest peak on the equator. Initially, we were going to start our summit attempt at midnight but high winds meant we had to postpone. Then at 6am, our guide saw a window and at 7.30am we were off. Climbing a glacial mountain in the day is not normal but due to it being cold was possible. I have loved all the mountains we've climbed here but this was something special. Being able to see the scenery and amazing ice formations made it more rewarding than just charging for the summit.

Departure delayed this morning due to high winds at altitude.

Conditions improved a bit later and the ascent of Cayambe was made in daylight
